Canadian rapper and paid tribute to popular Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala


LOS ANGELES: Drake, a Canadian rapper and musician, has paid tribute to popular Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, who was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Punjab’s Mansa region on Sunday.

The 27-year-old musician, who was also a Congress politician, was assassinated a day after his security cover was revoked by the state administration.

On Sunday night, Drake paid tribute to Moosewala on his Instagram Stories.

He shared a photo of the “So High” hitmaker with his mother with, “RIP MOOSE @sidhu moosewala.”

Drake made news in 2020 when he began following Moosewala on Instagram.”

Moosewala was a regular performer at live shows in Canada, citing Drake as one of his musical influences and following him on social media.

Moosewala was attacked in his jeep in village Jawahar Ke on Sunday, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (Mansa) Gobinder Singh, who told PTI that six gunshots hit him.

The Punjab Police withdrew security from 424 persons on Saturday, including Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, often known as Sidhu Moosewala.

Moosewala ran for the Congress in the recent Mansa Assembly election but was beaten by the AAP’s Vijay Singla.

According to police sources, Goldy Brar, a Canadian, has claimed responsibility for Moosewala’s murder.
